Ursula Engel 1980 Basel Beijing Basel Amsterdam Beijing Amsterdam Basel Nairs Utrecht 2007 Born in Basel, Switzerland, October 1980 1980_- 1999: growing up in Basel 1999: left Switzerland for the first time for a six month stay in Beijing to learn Chinese at the Central Academy of Art and Design 2001 - 2005: studied Graphic Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, focused on typography, documentary films and poetry 2002: second visit to Beijing, to work on the documentary "Beijing, Beijing" 2005: travelled through the Netherlands and Switzerland to collect images for the film "In Between There Were Cities" Summer 2005: graduated in Graphic Design from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie with four graduation projects: the film "In Between There Were Cities", a design for the Studium Generale of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, a silkscreened poster series for Rietveld naar de Beurs and the poetry project "Dutch, English, German".
